WHAT HAPPENED
At 9:05 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, Border Patrol agents shot and killed Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, a U.S. citizen and ICU nurse, on Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis. Multiple video angles captured the entire incident. Within hours, the Department of Homeland Security, Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino, White House advisor Stephen Miller, and President Trump issued statements claiming Pretti was a “domestic terrorist” who “approached officers with a gun” and “wanted to massacre law enforcement.”
The videos show something entirely different.

Donald Trump: Posted photo of Pretti’s gun, asked “What is that all about?” Blamed local officials for not protecting ICE agents.
